Welcome to the 15th UN-RIAS Plenary and 52nd RIAS Plenary!

The Future is Now

Join us to engage on topics such as artificial intelligence,
the global risk landscape, the revised IIA Standards, and more!

Our institutions face multiple, overlapping crises, none of which we can address on our own. The need to evolve has never been greater. I hope this year’s event can serve as a springboard to a new era, one characterized by stronger partnerships and deeper collaboration among our membership.

Welcome to the 15th UN-RIAS Plenary and 52nd RIAS Plenary!

We are living through a period of tremendous risk, uncertainty and change. On the heels of a global pandemic, our institutions are now responding to a seemingly endless list of multiple, overlapping crises — war in Ukraine, food insecurity across much of the developing world, climate change, and natural disasters — to name a few. None of these challenges are new. However, their scale, intensity, and confluence are unparalleled in recent history. Against this backdrop, expectations are rising for humanitarian and development organizations to step up, deliver, and evolve.

The theme for this year’s conference — The Future is Now — reflects the need for independent oversight and assurance functions to prepare now for what lies ahead. How do we think about our role within multilateral organizations? How can we leverage new technologies to deliver an enhanced level of assurance? How do we prepare our teams with the skills they will need to be successful in the future?

This year’s event brings together more than 50 organizations and nearly 100 leaders across the international development space to collaborate and engage on strategic topics.

Sessions will help participants:

  • Better understand the global risk landscape
  • Navigate the challenges of providing assurance in fragile environments
  • Prepare for the revised IIA standards
  • Leverage new technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, to deliver better results
  • Build a “future-ready” internal audit function, to name a few

Today’s challenges are immense and go beyond the ability of any one organization to address. Closer collaboration and deeper partnerships will be critical in the years ahead.
